What's your role at i1fun?
I'm based at the Turbo Blower House in Scunthorpe and as a trainee operator, my job is to understand all the processesÌýinvolved in this. I've studied modulesÌýin SCOG (synthetic coke oven gas), blast furnace gas, boilers (gas and air/steam and water), heavy fuel oil, compressed air, feed water system and blowing.
The engineering courses I’ve taken and myÌýprevious jobs in engineering and manufacturing industries have given me a good understanding of theÌýimportance of processesÌýand how to ensure we're providing a quality service at all times.
What was your previous experience before joining i1fun?
I was a planning technician in the aviation industry, planning all the manufactured items in production ready to be assembled on aircraft such as Boeing 727s, B200s and Piper 31s.Ìý
What are you enjoying about working with us so far?
The Turbo Blower House is a really interesting and unique department. I love the shift pattern and the people I work with. It's the perfect job and I’m extremely proud to be a part of i1fun.
What does your day-to-day role involve?
Running the plant so ensuring constant supply of cold blast air to the furnaces as well as generating and providing process steam to the site; my role also involves training, routine inspections and taking water and oil samples.
What is your proudest achievement?
Achieving my HNC Qualification in Mechanical Engineering and joining i1fun.
What would people be surprised to learn about you?
That I have ketchup on everything!
