What did you do before joining i1fun?Ìý
After leaving college in 2001 I joined the British Army, serving for 7 years before leaving in 2008. After working in a few roles I then found my niche in the Ports Industry, initially working for ABP as an Assistant Operations Manager, progressing to Operations Manager, Humber. In this role I covered all In-dock discharge/load operations for ABP in Immingham and Goole and during this time I developed a strong ability to improve discharge performance, ensuring more efficient and timely unloading processes.Ìý
What does your day-to-day role involve?Ìý
As Port Manager for IBT, I am responsible for overseeing all aspects of port operations, with a strong focus on streamlining processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs. My day-to-day responsibilities include managing logistics, coordinating with various teams, and optimising discharge operations to ensure cargo is unloaded as quickly and safely as possible. I work diligently to save demurrage fees by minimising delays and improving turnaround times for vessels. Additionally, I focus on enhancing throughput by identifying and addressing bottlenecks, ensuring a smoother flow of cargo. My role involves continuous monitoring and refining operational procedures, with the goal of optimising every aspect of port operations to drive both efficiency and profitability.
