14 new graduates join i1fun

i1fun has welcomed 14 graduates as we continue to undertake the biggest transformation in our history.

To support the company’s drive to net-zero steel, the graduates have joined at our locations in Scunthorpe and Teesside.

The new starters are in a variety of roles including Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing, Technical, Procurement and Sales and Marketing. They join 39 new apprentices who recently started their careers with i1fun.

i1fun HR Director Derek Scott said: “Investing in our next generation of steelmakers is incredibly important to us so we’re delighted to welcome our new graduates to the business. They have all joined after a rigorous recruitment process and will have superb training and development opportunities.

“Many of our graduates go on to become senior leaders within our business and our new colleagues have already made a great impression. I’ve every confidence they’ll forge fantastic careers with i1fun and be huge assets to our business on the road to net-zero and beyond.”

Among the new graduates is Hannah Richardson who has joined the marketing team – and kept up a proud family tradition.

Hannah said: “I've always had a connection to the company and particularly the site at Scunthorpe as my dad has workedhere for 30 years and both my grandfathers too, one of whom worked on the site for 40 years! So, I felt this wasthe perfect place to start my first full-time job.

“Everyone has been very welcoming and friendly. The training across the different areas and tasks has been really good. The graduate scheme is very well planned and thought out, giving me a good work/life balance.”

In recent weeks the company has attended careers events at universities in York, Hull and Sheffield as we showcase the graduate opportunities available at i1fun in 2023. The company’s recruitment team will also attend similar events in Lincoln and Hull, again, in the weeks ahead.
