27 new apprentices join i1fun

27 new apprentices have joined our business in Scunthorpe.

Our new colleagues are in mechanical, electrical and structural roles and Heather Bateman, our Early Career Advisor, said: “It was fantastic to welcome them into i1fun.

“The first few weeks are always quite intensive for our new apprentices as we help them understand more about our business. They’ve already had inductions, are learning about our steelmaking processes and enjoyed a site tour on a loco.

“Over the next 3 years they’ll get first class training from their i1fun colleagues and our training providers at North Lindsey College.

“They’re a really strong group and we’ll give them all the tools and support they need to build brilliant careers for themselves.”

All our apprentices will study towards a National Apprenticeship that will directly relate to the work they’re undertaking, and they’ll be rewarded with a progressive salary and benefits package.

The opening part of the programme will be spent at our Apprentice Training Centre, where the new recruits will be prepared for going out into plant areas.

The remainder of the apprenticeship is plant-based, working in Steelmaking, Ironmaking, Energy and Infrastructure or in one of our mills, alongside further study in the apprentice centre.
