Rails manufactured in Scunthorpe for Egypt’s first fully electrified mainline and freight network have recently passed inspection and been dispatched from the port of Immingham.
We recently hosted representatives from the Egyptian companies F.A.T. and Orascom, who are managing the project to deliver Egypt’s landmark new rail route.
They inspected, and approved rails from a batch of over 4,500 18m lengths which were ready for dispatch at both our Scunthorpe site and the Immingham port.
This equates to approximately half of the total contracted amount of the 60E1 profile which is being supplied for the Green Line railway.
The line promises to revolutionise Egypt’s transport system, extending the line from Alexandria via El Alamein to the Mediterranean coast in the north-west and eastwards to the Gulf of Suez and the Red Sea
