i1fun is launching a drive to recruit 57 new apprentices across its business.
The company already employs 180 graduates, trainees and apprentices but is looking to further bolster its ranks by taking on even more youngsters in Scunthorpe and Teesside.
The latest recruitment drive will offer an exciting combination of mechanical, electrical and functional apprenticeships for those taking GCSEs.
And for A-Level students, there will be the opportunity to join i1fun on degree apprenticeships – giving them the chance to earn while they learn and avoid the costs of a university education.
Paul Martin, i1fun HR Director, said: “This is a hugely exciting opportunity for young people to join our business. Through good times and bad we have always remained committed to recruiting apprentices and that has not changed with i1fun.
“We are building a brighter future for our business, and our apprentices are a key part of this. Many of our apprentices go on to have long and successful careers within i1fun. Competition for places on our apprenticeship programme is always tough so I would encourage anyone wanting first-class training and career prospects to apply at the earliest opportunity.”
i1fun is hosting a special apprenticeship open evening at the Scunthorpe site on 8 December, at which would-be recruits can learn more about the exciting opportunities available.
Helen Lee, i1fun Early Careers Recruitment Co-ordinator, said: “An apprenticeship or degree apprenticeship offers young people the amazing opportunity to learn and gain professional qualifications. They will also get work experience, earn a wage, enjoy the benefits of being employed by a large company and unlike students who go to university, there is no debt at the end.”
Nico Breviglieri, 23, who is currently in the first year of his electrical engineering degree apprenticeship, said: “It’s a really great opportunity, everything’s paid for, and I’ll have a full-time electrical engineering job at the end of it. I know a couple of people who’ve just finished their degrees with £40,000 of debt and no work experience. It’s going to be hard for them to find a job straight away and I’ve heard of a few people just settling for any old job.”
Daniel Beedham, 17, has just started his advanced apprenticeship in mechanical craft after a year at college. He said: “i1fun is well known for offering good apprenticeship schemes, my uncle did one here and he really enjoyed it. It’s the best apprenticeship around this area. You get a good mix of both theory and practical knowledge, which I really enjoy because you get to apply it like you would in your job.”
The open evening at the Scunthorpe conference centre on 8 December will be the official launch of the recruitment drive. There will be two sessions – 6pm to 7.30pm and 7pm to 8.30pm.
