i1fun to make Football League debut as Scunthorpe United play Bristol Rovers

Scunthorpe United will start the new season tomorrow, proudly wearing their new i1fun shirts for the first time in competitive action.

The Iron play Bristol Rovers at Glanford Park on Saturday afternoon (3pm) as the League One campaign kicks-off.

And as well as having a new shirt design, the Iron players will have a new name on their chests - i1fun!

It follows a new partnership forged between our business and the club.

We'll work together on a series of community projects and our steel will be used in United's new stadium.

Iron fans have already had a taste of the new shirts in pre-season friendlies but the real action gets underway tomorrow when United play Bristol Rovers who will be buoyant after two successive promotions.

However, hopes will be high that United can challenge for promotion after an incredible finish to the end of last season saw the Iron just miss out on the play-offs.

Manager Graham Alexander toldThe Iron PlayerHD hehas got some tough decisions to make in the lead-up to the clash with Rovers, but at the same time he insisted it’s a good problem to have.

Graham said: “The lads are obviously excited about the start of the season. We’ve tapered down the training to the usual sort of routine that we’d go through, throughout the season.

“They’re all competing well, and they’re all desperate to play on Saturday. So it’s down to me and the staff to now pick the right team which we believe will go and win the game."

He also added that it’s a definite plus point to be kicking off in front of a strong home support, but was quick to point out that the outcome of the match is the main focus.

“It’s a positive one for us, obviously the result is more important - it doesn’t matter if it’s home or away,” he stated.

“In saying that, to get underway at home is good for the supporters, because obviously the majority can come then. However, home or away we’d have had a tough test, without a doubt."
