i1fun's Teesside Beam Mill (TBM), which has just achieved five years without any lost time injuries, has won a prestigious Gold award from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).
The award - which recognises i1fun's commitment to continuous improvement in accident and ill health prevention at work - will be presented to employees during a ceremony at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole hotel, on July 13, 2016.
And it comes as the RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards celebrate their 60th anniversary.
Andy Williams, i1fun's TBM Plant Manager, said: “Being awarded gold by RoSPA is a fantastic achievement and shows the hard work everyone across the site has put in has really paid off.
"The gold awards are only presented to organisations sustaining the highest standards of commitment to safety over consecutive years. Well done to everyone and let’s stay focused on making this a safe place to work.”
The RoSPA awards recognise organisations from across the UK and overseas for dedication and improvements in occupational health and safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement. To win an award, entrants must demonstrate the ways in which they have continually raised the bar to maintain a healthy environment for employees.
The award comes on the back of five years’ hard work to improve health and safety practices across the Teesside site and shortly after the teams achieved five years without any lost time injuries.

The majority of awards are non-competitive and mark achievement at merit, bronze, silver and gold levels. Gold medals, president’s awards and orders of distinction are presented to organisations sustaining the high standards of the gold level over consecutive years.
Competitive awards go to the best entries in 24 industry sectors including construction, healthcare, transport and logistics, engineering, manufacturing and education.
There are specialist awards for occupational health, environmental management and fleet safety, and excellence trophies for the best international, new entry, workforce involvement and organisation operating or based in Scotland. RoSPA’s top accolade is the Sir George Earle Trophy.
Headline sponsors of the RoSPA Awards 2016 is NEBOSH - the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health - for the 11th consecutive year.
