The annual audit for the management of products the Scunthorpe Rod Mill (SRM) supplies to the automotive sector has achieved another impressive result this year.
SRM makes a vast array of specifications for customers who manufacture them into components for the automotive industry, such as suspension springs, valve springs, tyre cord, tyre bead and fasteners. The is a prerequisite to supplying many of those customers.
The audit is undertaken by Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance (LRQA) and there are strict guidelines for managing product quality and reliability.
The main objectives of the audit are; to improve customer satisfaction, enhance quality management, to reduce variability and waste, and to promote continuous improvement.
SRM Plant Manager Paul Collins said: “I am pleased to report that following 5 days of auditing the SRM processes and associated support functions, the LRQA has approved our continued certification under IATF 16949 for a further 12 months.
