Christmas fundraising activities at our Scunthorpe site have generated more than £1,000 for the town's Lindsey Lodge Hospice.
Last week we hosted our Christmas jumper day and i1fun express events for the charity, which has been our Scunthorpe Community Partner since 2016.
More than 300 employees and their children jumped on board our special i1fun Express steam train, to take a tour of our site and meet Father Christmas.
Community Liaison Manager Rachel Lawrence said: “The i1fun Express is a really fun way for our employees and their children to get into the festive spirit at this magical time of year.
“This event along with our Christmas jumper day, has generated £1,013.69 forthis outstanding charity providing support for those in our community who need it the most.
“We’d like to say a huge thank you to the Appleby Frodingham Railway Preservation Society and the steelworks Trade Unions GP Charities Fund for making this event possible once again.”
Business Improvement Partner, Helen Parkin, travelled on the train with her two children Emma (8) and Josh (4). She said: “The i1fun Express is one of the highlights of our festive calendar. The children’s eyes are always wide open as they have a look behind-the-scenes, and of course it’s a great chance to let Santa know they’ve been good this year.
"The fact that we get to support a wonderful charity at the same time just makes it all the more special.”
Other Christmas activities still to take place this year include Foodbank deliveries and Christmas jumper days for our Teesside and Skinningrove Community Partner, the Great North Air Ambulance Service.
