Applications are now open for this year’s exciting and varied work experience opportunities at i1fun’s Scunthorpe site.
These voluntary work experience placements are designed for students in years 10 or 11 working towards their GCSEs or those in years 12 or 13 studying for A-levels.
Sarah Sayles, Early Careers Development Programmes Coordinator, said: “We’ve always welcomed students to our business, giving them an experience of the real world of work. It’s good for us as well as the students as these opportunities can ultimately help bring new people into the business. And this year, to make it easier for students to apply, we’ve launched an online application form.”
Most placements are for 1 week, some are 2 weeks, and there are 6 occasions throughout the year when they’ll be running, starting in February and ending in August. Placements are available in a broad range of disciplines including IT, HR, engineering, technical and environmental and are a great way for students to learn about our working environment and develop a wide array of skills.
Sarah said: “These placements are really valuable – students get an insight into what we do and also develop their own communications, interpersonal and problem-solving skills. We also know this experience can guide them to make better informed study and career choices.
“So if you know anyone who’s passionate, hardworking and interested in a placement with us, why not encourage them to apply? I’d encourage anyone who thinks they’d like to spend some time with us to put in an application – good luck!”
How to apply
It’s a simple 2-step process: the first stage asks students some questions and gives them the chance to share their key achievements; successful applicants then go on to a short interview.
