The arrival of three new industrial saws at i1fun’s Skinningrove Service Centre will herald a major new milestone in its development.
The £2.2-million equipment will be a pivotal part of the operation as it will bring increased productivity, greater accuracy and intuition to the whole process of making Special Profiles for customers.
The first of the three saws arrives next week for installation and the remaining two will be arriving in a phased manner in the new year.
The £26-million centre, which is due to open in 2024, will include cut-to-length lines, product milling, machining and warehousing operations, and will enable us to make and process an extended range of value-added profiles for the forklift industry.
The process of making sure special profiles meet the requirements needed involves cutting down the size of 14-metre length bars and accuracy is critical. The new saws will automate the process so not only are they more precise but they are three times faster than saws previously used.
The advanced milling and machining capability will mean we can offer profiles with world-leading tolerances of just 0.1mm.
Centre Project Manager Stuart Webster said: “The new saws and product transportation systems that Behringer are providing for the Skinningrove Service Centre will be integral to the new facility.
"They will allow Skinningrove Special Profiles to move into the next phase of the anticipated market development in forklift mast sales, as well as significantly improving our capability to cut all products faster and meet tighter tolerances to satisfy the developing requirements of the customer base."
Our Special Profiles business manufactures 250,000 tonnes of specialist products for a range of sectors, including the material handling market of which the ‘profitable and growing’ market for forklift trucks is a part.
