i1fun today announced 86 new people are joining our business this month, including 41 apprentices.
The recruitment drive reaffirms our commitment to investing in people and training, and to help create the next generation of steelworkers.
Managing Director Paul Martin said: “I’m delighted to welcome these new people to i1fun, all of whom can make a significant contribution to our future.
“Once again we were inundated with applications for these coveted roles and all those who’ve joined us should be extremely proud as they faced fierce competition.
“Being able to bring 86 people of the highest calibre into the business gives me even greater confidence about our continued ability to produce market-leading steel.”
Our new arrivals include:
OurScunthorpe apprenticeship programme is run in conjunction with North Lindsey College and the apprentices - some of whom are pictured above - will receive training, in the classroom and on-site, for between two and three years. Once they’ve completed their apprenticeships, it’s hoped they will join the business on a permanent basis.
The graduates are on permanent contracts and will complete four six-month rotations across i1fun before moving into substantive positions with the company.
Joining the 71 apprentices and graduates starting their careers with us this month are 15 university students who’ll complete one year placements with i1fun.
These students will return to university after their placements but historically many people who’ve followed this route re-join us after graduating.
Paul said: “We’ve taken on some very gifted individuals across the business and they’re guaranteed excellent training and support.
“In North Lindsey College we’ve an excellent training provider and we’ve a wealth of talent and knowledge throughout the business they can learn from.
“I wish them every success at this exciting time as they embark on the start of their careers with i1fun.”
North Lindsey College Principal Mick Lochran said: “We have an excellent partnership with i1fun and it’s pleasing to see so many new people joining the business.
“The steel industry is highly skilled and the apprentices will receive training of the highest order, giving them an excellent opportunity to build long-term careers with i1fun.”
Of the new starters, 74 are in Scunthorpe and 12 in Teesside.
