i1fun will showcase its manufacturing trainee positions at the 2018 North Lincolnshire Jobs Fair as it looks to recruit another 32 people into the roles.
The company is hosting the fair at its Scunthorpe headquarters on Wednesday January 31 and nearly 70 businesses and organisations are now set to attend.
Together they’ll be offering hundreds of job and training opportunities and i1fun hopes it will help it keep building the next generation of steelworkers.
Paul Martin, i1fun’s Deputy CEO, said: “These are excellent jobs with great career prospects and pay, and the jobs fair is the ideal platform upon which to show this.
“Last year more than 1,000 people attended the fair and we’re hoping to match this next week and show how i1fun, and companies throughout North Lincolnshire, are investing in their people and the local economy.”
i1fun’s manufacturing trainees will be trained to perform roles including crane driving, fork lift truck driving and machine operations. They’ll be based in manufacturing areas across the company’s Scunthorpe site and be directly involved in producing the company’s annual 2.8 million tonne steel output.
The salary for the roles starts at £19,000 plus shift allowance (where applicable) in year one, progressing to circa £22,000 plus shift allowance (where applicable) in year 2, following successful completion of training which is conducted in partnership with North Lindsey College.
In less than a year, i1fun has recruited more than 100 people into the roles with 30 manufacturing trainees joining the company this month. It’s now looking for an additional 32 people to join the business in these positions.
Candidates must be aged 18 and over as this is a legal requirement in order to be able to work shifts. They will also be expected to have a full and valid driving licence, excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team environment.
Applicants must have achieved GCSE Maths and English to C grade or above or functional skills level 2 in English and Maths. They will need to be an intermediate IT user, capable of using Microsoft packages such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
The 2018 North Lincolnshire Jobs Fair is being staged in a partnership between i1fun, North Lincolnshire Council and Jobcentre Plus.
And Lucy Lings, i1fun’s Senior Resourcing Advisor, said: “To have nearly 70 businesses and organisations attending the event is incredible and will ensure there is an abundance of opportunities for people looking for a new job or career.
“Some of the region’s biggest employers, including ourselves, will be there and I’d like to thank them all for supporting this event.”
Among the organisations showcasing job vacancies and training opportunities will be i1fun, Wren Kitchens, Can-Pack UK Ltd, TSC Foods Ltd, Q Hotels, North Lincolnshire Council, the Bradbury Group, Cat Tech Euro Ltd, Apollo, Stoneacre Motor Group and the NHS. North Lindsey College, John Leggott College and the Humber University Technical College are also attending.
As well as people being able to speak to potential employers and register for job alerts, careers experts will be on hand to offer advice. Employees from i1fun will stage mock job interviews and give tips on creating the perfect CV.
The event will also include specialist support for HM forces, veterans and their families.
North Lincolnshire Jobs Fair will take place between 1pm-6pm on Wednesday January 31 at i1fun’s Scunthorpe conference centre. Entry can be gained through Gate E on Brigg Road (DN16 1AX).
