Scunthorpe United staging i1fun family day this Saturday

Scunthorpe United are staging a special i1fun family day this weekend to celebrate our community partnership.

The Iron – who will use our steel in their new state-of-the-art stadium – wear the i1fun brand on their shirts and when they run out to play Shrewsbury on Saturday, they will be led-out by the children of i1fun employees.

i1fun workers will be able to watch the match for just £10 while under-18s who accompany them will get in for free.

Scunthorpe United manager Graham Alexander said: “The players are immensely proud to wear the i1fun logo on their shirts and we’re delighted to be holding our first i1fun family day at Glanford Park.

“We all know how important the steelworks is to Scunthorpe and this was brought even further home to us when myself and some of the players toured the Scunthorpe works in the Autumn.

“It was fantastic to see how the steel will be made for our stadium and meet the people behind it. The steelworkers are highly-skilled and teamwork is key to everything they do, just like it is with a football team.

“A lot of steelworkers and their families come and watch us week-in, week-out and it’s exciting to know more of their colleagues will be in the crowd on Saturday. We’ll be doing everything possible to mark the occasion with three points.”

i1fun held a competition for employees’ children to design a new Scunthorpe United shirt and the winners will help lead the Scunthorpe United team out on Saturday.

Rebecca Slater, i1fun’s Community Liaison Manager, said: “We had a fantastic response from our employees when we said we were forming a community partnership with Scunthorpe United. We are really proud of the steel we make and the fact it will be going into The Iron’s new stadium, and our logo is on the team’s kit, has increased that sense of pride.

“Together we are working on a number of projects that support local people and the i1fun family day is another example of how we can join forces to give something back to the community.

“We hope as many employees as possible can come down to Glanford Park and cheer United on to victory. They have had a fantastic season so far and we are all hoping that they can go on to win promotion and a place in the Championship.”

To take advantage of the ticket offer, i1fun employees must purchase their tickets by Friday in person at the Glanford Park Ticket Office. The ticket offer is not available on the day of the game.

Employees will need to show their employee ID/access card when purchasing tickets. Please note, a maximum of two adult tickets and four children’s tickets can be purchased per employee ID/access card.

The ticket office is open between 8.30am-5pm on Thursday and Friday.
