Two of our employees had theirnames in lights in March as they wereawarded apprentice awards fromNorth Lindsey College.
The first North Lindsey CollegeApprenticeship Awards were heldlast month to recognise apprenticesand their assessors across the wholeof North Lincolnshire for their hardwork. Eight Tata Steel employees werenominated, with Electrical EngineeringApprentice Emily Crawford and PlantEngineer Rob Ingham leaving aswinners.
Emily won the EngineeringApprentice of the Year award. AndrewStagg, Technical Training DeliveryManager, attended the awards andsaid: "Emily consistently produces highquality work and excelled in her firstyear, going above and beyond in all herPerforming Engineering Operationsunits. She has also adapted to changingwork environments, moving from theworkshop to plant and also movingplant areas with short notice."
"Rob won the Lifetime Apprenticeof the Year award for his outstandingachievements throughout his 25years in the engineering industry.Rob continues to be involved in theapprentice scheme and is passionateabout engineering and training,remaining committed to making surethe scheme is the best it can possiblybe."
Starting as an apprentice, Rob’ssuccesses include a first class honorsdegree in engineering from theUniversity of Hull, obtaining charteredengineer status, being chairmanof the North Lincolnshire Instituteof Measurement and Control andbecoming Plant Engineer at ScunthorpeRod Mill. Rob also spent some timeworking for Tata Steel in Rotherhamand now works as Plant EngineerEnergy Operations, Scunthorpe. Andrew added: "It’s fantastic to seethe talent within our business beingrecognised. Emily is a great ambassadorfor the Apprenticeship Scheme andhas represented the company and thescheme at various events includingrecruitment days. Emily is 100%committed and motivated to undertaketasks both in and out of her job roleand Rob is extremely dedicated to hisrole, the Apprenticeship Scheme andthe engineering industry, which is whatmade them both stand-out winners."
Ashleigh Porter-Exley is an ambassador for apprenticeships and enterprising skills and won the BBC’s Young Apprentice programme. Ashleigh was the special guest of the evening and presented some of the winners with their awards. The event was very well supported with nearly 200 guests including parents, carers, employers and employees. Andrew said: “Congratulations to both our winners and our other apprentices who achieved nominations.”
