Teesside Beam Mill (TBM) hosted a delegation from the National Steelwork Contractor Group (NSCG) for an inaugural visit.
Board level executives from companies within the NSCG, a committee within the British Constructional Steelwork Association (BCSA) who represent the interests of the UK structural steel sector, were able to see i1fun’s manufacturing process first-hand and learn more about our ambitious plans for the biggest transformation in our history to become a clean, green and sustainable business by adopting electric arc furnace steelmaking.
The NSCG, made up of the UK’s largest fabricators, usually hold their meetings in London but following an invitation from Ben Cunliffe, i1fun’s Sales Director for Construction opted to hold it in Teesside.
Ben said: “It was a fantastic opportunity to showcase our operations and discuss our journey to net zero with the BCSA and our customers.”
“During the visit we were able to showcase to our customers the feat of engineering and scale of the operations that goes into the steel we supply to them. It also allowed our customers to view in person our plans to build an electric arc furnace at the Teesside site, reassuring them of our progress as we move towards decarbonisation.”
David Hogg, Plant Manager for Northern Mills, and Steve Bowman, Lead Engineer, delivered a presentation focusing on the Teesside’s steelmaking heritage which started in 1850s, all the way through to the future EAF plans.
Ben adds: “By working in close partnership, we will continue to enjoy the position of principal supplier with our UK customers and to deliver the high-quality products our customers require.”
