More than 100 people gathered at the memorial stone in central park to pay their respects to those who have tragically lost their lives in the workplace.
This year’s Workers’ Memorial Day service which was organised by the i1fun Multi-Union group saw people gather for service at Scunthorpe Baptist Church, Ashby Road, before the congregation proceeded to the Memorial Stone in Central Park to lay wreaths for those who have lost their lives in the workplace.
Paul McBean , Multi Union Chairman, spoke at the service stressing the importance of safe working and said: “ Please have difficult conversations if needed with colleagues to remind them to work safely, these conversations are nowhere near as difficult as the ones you would have to have with family and friends if one of them was to lose their lives at work. Everyone needs to go home safely at the end of the day.”
Mark Evans and Chris Vaughan ,Works Managers, laid wreaths by the memorial stone on behalf of i1fun.
