Our state-of-the-art testing facilities for mechanical, chemical, metallurgical and welding applications enable extremely realistic simulation of track components.

This allows us to accurately predict service life and make product recommendations to deliver best value.

Testing facilities

BritishÌýSteel has state-of-the-art facilities for testing railway-related materials and components including rail, sleepers, fishplates and insulated block joints. We conduct mechanical, chemical and metallurgical tests including bend testing, corrosion testing, fatigue testing and weld testing. We can undertake:

• A range of standard laboratory tests to international standards
• The design and build of bespoke test arrangements
• Recreation of aggressive locations using our environmental test facilities
