Mining

Our special profiles for underground mining applications offer multiple benefits, such as simple installation, enhanced corrosion resistance, durability and outstanding strength.ÌýThe range includes tophat shaft guides - high-quality, cost effective hoisting systems for use in shafts.

Applications

Our steel special profiles are used in underground and surface mining operations and include products made from wear-resistant steel. We produce profiles for mine infrastructure and a vast array of mining machinery and vehicles.

We have been working with the manufacturers of mining equipment for many years. We know that equipment must be carefully designed and built to meet exacting demands. Customers rely on our steel to deliver the performance they need.

Products and benefits

Our products include:

  • Tophat shaft guide sections for guiding cagesÌýand skips in mine shaftsÌý
  • Conveyor channel sections used for manufacturingÌýlong wall or chain conveyors

Tophat shaft guides

Our unique open section tophat shaft guides offer many benefits including:

  • Faster installation and replacement
  • Pre-installation of butt strap connections
  • Cost-effective installation
  • Easier inspection and detection of defects
  • 3 x longer life than alternative solutions

Their properties, including close-dimensional control and straightness, mean less swing in the shaft and a smoother lift. Tophat shaft guides also facilitate faster hoisting speeds due to their stiffness and higher resistance to slamming forces. As a result, theyÌýgenerally last for the life of the mine.ÌýOur corrosion-resistant shaft guide products also deliver outstanding strength.Ìý

Lengths

Shaft guides are available in lengths from 6 to 17 metres, with a cutting tolerance of +100/-0mm.Ìý
Cold sawn lengths are also available to suit individual requirements, with a +0/-2mm cutting tolerance.
