- £75 million airport terminal extension
- 1,300 tonnes of i1fun sections
Scotland’s busiest airport has undergone the “biggest project in a generation” using structural sections supplied by i1fun.
First Minister Nicola Sturgeon officially opened Edinburgh Airport’s £75 million terminal expansion after it was completed in 2019.
Located in the Ingliston area of Edinburgh, the airport handled over 14.7 million passengers the year its expansion was completed.
i1fun sections, supplied through, helped to prepare the airport for future growth with its 3-storey extension stretching out from the existing gate 12 area. This formed part of the airport’s wider £200m capital investment programme to support growth and maintain operational standards over the coming years.

The expansion included the extension of the airport’s South East Pier and provided additional immigration, customs and international reclaim facilities, as well as a new home for its domestic reclaim hall.
Other additions included 6 new gates, seating areas and connections via a series of fixed links, stair nodes and air bridges. New retail opportunities, food and beverage options, toilets, lettable property and office space, VIP lounges, and retail storage were also made possible.
Our Teesside Service Centre supplied 1,300 tonnes of structural sections to help construct the new extension to Edinburgh Airport’s terminal building.
